Customer:

KRM (Ecco Holding Group)

Challenge

Implementation and deployment of the standard WMS with Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 in the Customer’s central warehouse to enable effective and fast running of stationary stores and online sales. Adaptation of the software selected by the Customer to the cyclical changes in the expected solution capacity reflecting product (i.e. footwear) seasonality, and the need for dynamic rotation of products on offer over short periods of time.

Our role

Designing the architecture of system elements on the basis of the collected information on: location, user numbers, last links of the supply chain catered for, sales volumes, seasonality and process logistics. Also, deploying the standard WMS (Warehouse Management System) with Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012, providing training for the end-users of the solution and ongoing support in their everyday work.

Outcome

Following the release of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3, its manufacturer issued a new version of the warehouse management module (Warehouse Management System – WMS) to replace the solution for that area which had been proposed by Microsoft in previous system releases. The new version enables comprehensive handling of warehouse processes – from inbound warehouse operations, through across-the-warehouse processes, to outbound warehouse operations.

Ecco obuwie

One of the areas in which Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 was implemented in the Customer’s organisation was the warehouse & logistics area. The Customer decided to implement a mature WMS solution available in the standard version of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 which they had already purchased.

The major part of the project was completed within 6 months. During that time, we mirrored and prepared the key processes run by the Customer as part of warehouse and logistics operations. The scope of our works included, among others, developing a mobile application to run on warehouse staff’s tablets, which makes it possible to manage warehouse operations and integrate with forwarding companies. Functionality testing and end-user training took up another month.

That implementation of the WMS (Warehouse Management System) for Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 at KRM – a company which is part of the Ecco Holding Group and has a presence in 18 European markets with over 300 of own-brand stationary stores and over 2000 staff – was a pioneering project in Poland and the first one which was a complete success in this country.

A sequel to the project consisted in developing an application for warehouse management in stationary stores, which also runs on mobile devices/ tablets.
